Bus Drivers
A common carrier bus company (ie. which has passengers) allegedly hired a driver with a poor driving history. Through investigation, this firm was able to ascertain that the driver of the Greyhound bus had a prior history accidents and falling asleep at the wheel. This firm alleged negligent retention and failure to ascertain background checks for their employees at a minimal cost. A large seven–figure settlement was obtained.

Maintenance Man Death of a young girl
A thirteen year old girl was killed by a maintenance man of the apartment complex that she lived in. This firm filed suit accusing the management company of negligence for hiring the maintenance man. Charles M. Brewer alleged that the management company should have known that the individual provided false information in his application; and that a reasonable investigation would have revealed his storied past. Plaintiffs settled for the policy limits of 1.5 million dollars.
